
A while ago, I was at my sister’s and we wanted to make something very different from the regular macaroni dishes we are normally used to for our sons.
So we decided to use as many Nigerian spices that would be good for them.
And wow wow wow it had such a great taste.
Let me just go right ahead to the recipe. Just remember to save it for future reference and share with a mum who might need this.

BHBites African Spiced Macaroni
Ingredients
- Macaroni
- Tomato mix ( tomatoes, tatase, onions, ata-rodo)
- Iru/Locust bean/Dawadawa
- Ginger
- Garlic
- Smoked fish ( panla)
- Beef/Chicken Sauce
- Cray fish

- Boil macaroni until it’s soft (don’t allow to get too soft)
- Drain out the water and set aside.
- Sauce
- Blend the tomatoes and peppers with ginger and garlic. Don’t blend with a lot of water.
- Pour the mix into a pot and boil for about 10-15mins.
- Pour a little groundnut oil into a pot and pour in some sliced onions and allow to fry a bit.
- Add the boiled tomato mix and add some palm oil and allow to fry a-bit.
- Blend the iru with some cray fish and add the mixture into the sauce.
- Add your beef/chicken stock and add some salt.
- Allow to simmer for a while or till when the water content is reduced.
- Pour in the macaroni and mix properly.
- Finally cut or shred the smoked fish to small piece and add to the macaroni.
