Banana Pancakes, Yummy!!!

Ingredients

  • 3 medium sized bananas
  • 5 teaspoons of oat flour
  • 1 egg
  • Cinnamon/vanilla extract/ nutmeg (optional)

Steps

  1. Cut bananas into small pieces.
  2. Mesh banana till smooth and creamy or just blend with a food processor
  3. Add oat flour ,egg and cinnamon into the banana and cinnamon
  4. Mixed till desired consistency is achieved.

Notes

For adults and older kids, additions can be included, eg syrup, strawberries etc.

Our first try on a more solid meal… And to my surprise it went quite well. Here’s to my 3 ingredient banana pancake. And yes… the whole family can enjoy this meal.

Quick Tip
1. You can use a dry miller/dry blender to blend your oats to get oats flour.
2. You can blend all ingredients together in a food processor to get your batter faster.

Snacking with Watermelons and strawberries

Ingredients

  • Watermelon
  • Strawberries
  • Vanilla yogurt

Steps

  1. Cut watermelon into pieces
  2. Wash, clean and cut up strawberries
  3. Puree 2 cups of watermelon, 1 cup of strawberries and 1/4 cup of vanilla yogurt, till desired consistency is achieved.
  4. Serve chilled.
  5. Really nice guaranteed.

Ingredients

  • 3 Bananas
  • Pap (ground Maize/corn)
  • Goat milk

Steps

  1. Mash bananas with a fork
  2. Mix in 2tbsp of goat milk
  3. Pour in already prepared pap.
  4. Puree mixture till the desired consistency is achieved, which should be a smooth creamy look.
  5. Pour into a bowl and serve baby

Briefly introducing pap: a meal for weaning babies, which contains vital nutrients a growing baby needs and it is easily digestible.

More ingredients can be added to make it more nutritious, eg. crayfish, soyabeans, groundnut.

Bananas which of course is a must have food for babies, Oh yes!

Beetroot and Potato Puree

Ingredients

  • 1 med sized beetroot
  • 1 med sized potato
  • 1/4teaspoon turmeric powder (8 months and above)
  • 1/4teaspoon cumin powder (8 months and above)

Steps

  1. Wash the vegetable very well (beetroot and potatoes), peel the skin and dice them.
  2. Put both veggies into a pressure cooker, add 3-4 tablespoons of water and pressure cook till you hear whistles. Turn the heat to low and simmer for a couple of minutes after you have heard a couple of whistles. Turn off the heat.
  3. Allow pressure to release naturally in the cooker.
  4. Open the cooker, place the beet and potatoes in a mixer grinder and puree into desired paste.
  5. Add a pinch of salt to taste.
  6. Add water to achieve consistency due to age of baby.
  7. You can add plain yogurt to help with easy digestion for the baby (optional)
